Despite the challenge of over 1,290mm of rain falling across the UK, our team adapted by ensuring public areas remained safe for residents and businesses.
Gritting operations ramped up in response to icy conditions and we worked hard to keep Lincolnshire accessible during the toughest weather.
Our Summer Time Tasks
While the gritters enjoyed a well-earned rest during the warmer months, the Lincolnshire Gritters team stayed busy, ensuring we were prepared for the colder seasons ahead.
The off-season meant that Rob swapped gritting for farming, dedicating his spring and summer to managing the fields. From maintaining equipment to preparing for harvest, Rob’s work on the farm reflects the same dedication and resilience he puts into his gritting work.

Ensuring we have enough salt to meet the demands of the upcoming winter by analysing past usage and forecasting needs. By ordering early, we can avoid shortages when demand peaks.
Inspecting and Refilling Salt Bins
Across Lincolnshire, salt bins play a crucial role in keeping areas safe. We inspect bins for damage, ensuring they’re in good condition. We also refill them to prepare for the first frost.
Checking and Maintaining Gritters
